Generator performance in X-ray thickness gauge:

The function of the generator is to provide all the necessary conditions and facilities for the production of X-rays. The input power for this module is supplied in pulses through a communication cable from the control box unit.

Three main factors are required to produce X-rays:

  1. A current that must flow through the filament (cathode) to heat it, causing free electrons to form an electron cloud around the filament.
  2. The required potential difference to move the electrons from the cathode toward the anode.
  3. A target or anode where the electrons, after being accelerated, collide.
